Addressing the School Funding Formula
Dear Friends,
I am proud to be leading the effort to address the structural, long-term solutions needed to solve our school funding formula problem.
This Friday, I am bringing together a variety of stakeholders to determine what that structural fix is. These stakeholders include the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE); our local Select Boards, Finance Committees, School Committees, and Superintendents; town managers/administrators, and my colleagues in the House and the Senate.
Additionally, I am spearheading the effort to bring together all 200+ “minimum aid” districts so that we can collaborate on solutions that directly benefit schools with this designation.
The school funding issue has been a long-standing one, and it has been a top priority of mine. Since taking office eighteen months ago, I have worked tirelessly to get educated on the many facets of it and build coalitions and propose solutions that work to fill these gaps in funding. That’s the kind of leadership I deliver and the kind of leadership this District deserves: full-time, visionary, collaborative, and experienced leadership.
It’s far from a guarantee that my impressive track record of successes and leadership style will deliver us a victory in November. My opponent is ramping up their marketing efforts with fearmongering and lies that I am receiving “money from every Dark Money Super PAC” — I do not take Super PAC funding, which is easily verifiable with a quick search of public records. We see these type of scare tactics and alarmism on the national stage, and it’s unfortunate that it is being used to mislead voters in the First Middlesex District.
